A gut healing protocol for Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Your gut healing protocol – the three-step process
- What do you want?
Work out what you want your life to look like in terms of your health and wellness. Do you want to be able to dance at your daughter’s wedding, do you want to potter in your garden on a regular basis, do you want to be able to stop thinking about food 24/7 and just go out for a meal with friends and enjoy yourself? What is it that really matters to you that is not currently in your life?
- Why do you want it?
Spend as much time as necessary working out why it is important to you.
It should look something like, I would like ….. so that ……, so that…… and keep going until you really feel it. Then you have got to what and why.
Reflect on what is getting in the way. Why aren’t you there already?
- Make a plan to get there
Map out some three-month goals. Three is a good number to aim for. These goals should really focus on the behaviours you want to change.
A good starting point – In three months’ time I will be doing …..
Break those goals down further into what can I do next week to put me on the path towards my vision.
These become tasks, specific actions that you will take in the next week that will move you towards your overall vision. A good rule of thumb is that these should be specific enough to schedule it in your diary (and it’s a great idea to do this right away).
Steps 1 and 2 are the hardest but most important steps. When you get those right, the how you do it falls into place.
