A gut healing protocol for Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Making any sort of change is hard work.  If you are living with irritable bowel syndrome then your relationship with food has been turned on its head. Eating a healthy diet can be hard and getting enough of the right nutrients to make sure you heal is tough. Making it appetising is even harder. And managing it all within the constraints of a busy life, well, that can feel impossible.

But it isn’t.  Following our three-step gut healing protocol will get you to a place where your life is no longer dominated by your irritable bowel syndome (IBS).  You can create your own personalised gut healing plan to suit your lifestyle and dietary requirements. So, you can heal your gut naturally.

Your gut healing protocol – the three-step process

  1. What do you want?

Work out what you want your life to look like in terms of your health and wellness.  Do you want to be able to dance at your daughter’s wedding, do you want to potter in your garden on a regular basis, do you want to be able to stop thinking about food 24/7 and just go out for a meal with friends and enjoy yourself?  What is it that really matters to you that is not currently in your life?

  1. Why do you want it?

Spend as much time as necessary working out why it is important to you.

It should look something like, I would like ….. so that ……, so that…… and keep going until you really feel it.  Then you have got to what and why.

Reflect on what is getting in the way.  Why aren’t you there already?

  1. Make a plan to get there

Map out some three-month goals. Three is a good number to aim for.  These goals should really focus on the behaviours you want to change.

A good starting point – In three months’ time I will be doing …..

Break those goals down further into what can I do next week to put me on the path towards my vision.

These become tasks, specific actions that you will take in the next week that will move you towards your overall vision. A good rule of thumb is that these should be specific enough to schedule it in your diary (and it’s a great idea to do this right away).

Steps 1 and 2 are the hardest but most important steps.  When you get those right, the how you do it falls into place.

You have probably noticed there is very little information about food here.  The thing I have found with my clients is that their illness has taken over their life. They are tired of having to find a toilet urgently, have no energy and feel overwhelmed and isolated.  They know it’s time to change.

Your personal gut healing protocol

This is where the Savvy Belly process is totally unlike anything you have tried before. We run a range of personalised programs based on this three-step process that you can do one to one or in group format, all from the comfort of your own home.  So, you can stop feeling overwhelmed, isolated and lonely and start living your life.

Your gut healing protocol becomes unique and specific to you and your lifestyle.  Food is the tool to help you but you need to get the foundations right first.  What to eat, how to prepare it, where to get it and the other factors that influence your diet and lifestyle are all important too.

But, you need to start with a solid foundation, build the framework, then fill in the supporting structures.  Without that, your “house” will come falling down, you won’t have been able to “build” new habits and your illness will still be the “main entrance” to your life.
